Street food in India is a no brainer – it’s FABULOUS! Street corn is no exception to that rule. It’s tangy, sour, spicy, and has the sweetness of the corn.
Roasted corn is a staple snack throughout northern India. The best part about it is that it’s hearty and is prepared a number of ways. It can be roasted in sand, over charcoal, or just over an open flame. Topped with lime and a variety of spices, I dare say street corn in India beats the pants off of Mexican corn every day of the week.
It’s so easy to make and even faster to devour. I love having this as a snack when I’m in the mood for junk food but want a healthier option. Turns out getting old and worrying about your metabolism is lame. So you have to put aside the chips and candy and trick your body into thinking healthier food is junk food. Luckily, the corn fills that spot perfectly.
I love stopping at road side stands in India and grabbing one of these on my way to where ever I’m off to. Street corn and salted nimboo pani – so much yumminess. People always ask me why I’m full. Turns out I eat my way through India.
